In 2006 Channel 4 commissioned a show to help 8 women deal with a range of body image issues. The Body Aspect system was used as a tool to help give the women a more realistic view of their bodies. Gok Wan used the Body Aspect software to help each woman create her perceived 3D image. This was then compared against their actual 3D body scan. Here's what some of them had to say: | |||||

Susan Sharp,47 I thought I was over 20 per cent bigger than I actually am. Finding that out was a real shock that has changed my life. I feel almost the same level of surprise every time I watch the two pictures on the scanner, the way I saw myself and the way I really am. |

Zoe Cobden, 28 The scanner was the key experience in the show. I realised that I had got my shape completely wrong. It was very interesting to be able to manipulate the silhouette of myself. It showed me very clearly that it was my brain that was distorting the image of myself. |

Leana Grech,33 The scanner was the most important factor in changing my view of myself. And it has been permanent. A lot of girlfriends said they would like to go into the machine. They feel the same as I did about my body and nothing I say reassures them. |

Claire Green, 29 The body scanning exercise was the turning point for me. I realised how wrong I had got things, that I'm not that overweight and that you can look at yourself in the mirror and not actually see the real you. |
